Visiting the amazing city of Nara for the first time. So peaceful and historic. One of the things it’s famous for, other than the temples and unique sushi style, is the chunk of it that has a huge number of deer that roam around and are really friendly. The biggest, most famous fish market in the world is sadly moving to a new location later this year after being in its current location since the 30s. Earlier this year a single (huge) catch sold for hundreds of thousands. I arrived at 4am to photograph the amazing tuna auction before it’s changed forever, then had the most incredible sushi I’ve ever had made by a chef working from that morning’s catch.
